About Technical Implementation Unit of Integrated Research Laboratory Universitas Sumatera Utara
The Integrated Research Laboratory Technical Implementation Unit of Universitas Sumatera Utara, abbreviated as UPT LPT USU, is a technical implementation unit that focuses on services, with the highest priority on supporting research activities at Universitas Sumatera Utara. The tasks of UPT LPT USU include services to various entities, such as Faculties, Study Programs, Research Institutions, Centers for Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI), and other work units within the university.
The Integrated Research Laboratory's important role is coordinating various laboratory activities, including services, research, and cooperation. In addition, this laboratory serves as a facilitator to support the initiatives of the Innovation and Technology Business Incubation Institute of Universitas Sumatera Utara. This aims to encourage the development of innovative products and maximize opportunities for monetization of the results of these innovations. Thus, UPT LPT USU has a crucial role in advancing research and innovation within the university.

2012
The Integrated Research Laboratory, also known as the Integrated Laboratory, is part of the Technical Implementation Unit of the Basic Science Laboratory Lecture Center (UPT PP LIDA) under the supervision of the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara. Its coordination is carried out by the Vice Rector I in Academic Affairs. This shows the important role of the Integrated Laboratory in supporting academic and research activities within the university.
2016
In line with the Decree of the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara No. 1262/UN5.1.R/SK/SDM/2016, UPT PP LIDA and Integrated Laboratory were under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Timbangen Sembring in 2016.
2019
In 2019, by the Rector's Decree SK No. 01A/UN5.1.R/SK/KPM/2019, the Integrated Research Laboratory Technical Implementation Unit was under the leadership of Dr. Tulus Ikhsan Nasution, S.Si., M.Sc. This is done to distinguish the roles and functions between the Integrated Laboratory and the Basic Science Laboratory by their respective duties and responsibilities.
2021
Based on the Decree of the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara No. 1814/UN5.1.R/SK/SDM/2021, Ir. Rahmi Karolina, S.T., M.T., was appointed Head of the Integrated Research Laboratory Technical Implementation Unit for 2021-2026. UPT USU Integrated Research Laboratory has direct responsibility to the Chancellor and coordinates with the Vice Rector III for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation. The establishment of the UPT Integrated Research Laboratory aims to accelerate the implementation of optimal and standardized research to support innovation development within Universitas Sumatera Utara.
